A Board consisting of five Flag Offices and ten Directors governs the Squadron. Elections are held yearly in September.
Although a full-time manager and staff are employed, there is a strong volunteer component for many of our major activities. Input from the members to the Board is not only welcomed, but encouraged.
The story of the WYS is of people dedicated to sailing; of families passing on their enthusiasm, as well as their boats, from generation to generation. It is the stories of youngsters who learn the sport in sailing classes and go onto win honors in local and national competition.
It is a wonderful and unique spirit - one of camaraderie and giving. The gifts to the Squadron have been many, including, of course, time and effort. The givers are too numerous to mention but the gifts include furniture, the trophy case, file cabinets, the History book, safety patrol boat, sail boats, flag pole, ice machine, counters, TVs, pictures, photo albums, trophies, donation of charters and decorating and refurbishing.
