| 08/27/08 | WESTHAMPTON YACHT SQUADRON FALL SERIES SEPTEMBER 7TH-OCTOBER 12TH 2008 NOTICE OF RACE Organizing authority; Westhampton Yacht Squadron Location: At the foot of Shore Road- on Yacht Club Drive Remsenburg, New York, 11960 Fall Series 2008 Held six consecutive Sundays Sunday, September 7th through Sunday, October 12th, 2008 RULES: Racing will be governed by The Racing Rules of Sailing 2005-2008 (RRS) this Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions (NRSI) RACING AEA: Races will be held on Moriches Bay and/or in the Hart’s Cove area of Moriches Bay (west of the club). ORGANIZING AUTHORITY: Westhampton Yacht Squadron CLASSES OF BOATS: Division 1: Sunfish, 420”s Division 2: Optimist (Red, White, Blue & Green Fleet) ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY: The event is open to any eligible Sunfish-420- Optimist (Red-Blue-White or Green fleet) upon completion of registration with the Westhampton Yacht club and payment of applicable fee. The skipper of each boat must be a member of US Sailing or associated with a US Sailing Club. Boats that fail to register or pay will be scored DNC for the day without a hearing (changes RR63.1-and RR A5) REGISTRATION: Registration will be held on Sunday September 7th at 11a.m in the Junior Club House. Forms will be available at the Westhampton Yacht Squadron on the day of registration. Competitors are to sail in boats they registered. Any changes must be approved by the Race Committee before racing. FEES: Required fees are as follows: CLASS FEES Sunfish WYS members --$20.00………..Non-members $30.00 420’s WYS members-- $20.00………. Non-members $30.00 Optimist WYS members --$20.00………. Non-members $30.00 SCHEDULE OF RACES: There will be one Fall Racing Session only. The session will begin on Sunday September 7th --skippers meeting at 12:30p.m. -- Races begin @ 1:30p.m- Races scheduled for September 14th,21rd,28th, October 5th & 12th will have their skippers meeting 12 noon and start at 1 p.m- --All races count for scoring—Races will be held on the following dates: September 7th- Sunfish-420’s –Optimist September 14th - Sunfish-420’s-Optimist September 21st - Sunfish-420’s-Optimist Sunfish-420’s-Optimist September 28th- Sunfish-420’s-Optimist October 5th- Sunfish-420’s-Optimist (Bob Rice Memorial Trophy Race) October 12th -Sunfish-420’s-Optimist COURSES: A diagram in Attachment a (S.I.) will show the courses, including the approximate angles between legs, the order in which marks are to be passed, and the side on which each mark is to be left. SUPPORT BOATS: Shall be marked with a OFFICIAL flag RULES: Racing will be governed by The Racing Rules of Sailing 2005-2008 (RRS) this Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions (NRSI) SCORING: The Low Point Scoring system, RRS A2-A4- & A9 shall apply, except as modified herein. There will be one discard for every sixth race sailed PRIZES: Prizes will be awarded at the Fall Series Awards Dinner to be held at the Westhampton Yacht Squadron, Saturday October 18th invitation to follow, all welcomed. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or after the series. CHANGES TO SAILING INSTRUCTIONS; Notices to competitors will be posted on the official WYS notice board located north of the flag pole.
